Jeff Beck - Star Cycle

Es muy difícil hablar de Jeff Beck sin que surjan debates acerca de los tres grandes guitarristas que pasaron por la mítica banda The Yardbirds a mediados de los 60 y acabarían convirtiéndose en leyendas de la guitarra. Jimmy Page creó una de las bandas de rock duro más grandes de todos los tiempos: Led Zeppelin. Eric Clapton, por su parte, también ha tenido una carrera exitosa moviéndose entre el blues, el rock y el pop. Y, por último, Jeff Beck, es tal vez el que menos éxito comercial ha tenido, pero, para mi gusto, el más experimental y virtuoso de los tres.

It's very difficult to talk about Jeff Beck without any debate about the three great guitarists who were born from the Yardbirds in the mid-60s. All three have become guitar legends. Jimmy Page founded one of the greatest hard rock bands of all time: Led Zeppelin. Eric Clapton, meanwhile, also has a successful career moving between blues, rock and pop. And finally, Jeff Beck, perhaps the least successful from a commercial point of view, but, for my liking, the most experimental and virtuous of the three of them.

Ya comenté en una ocasión (hablando de James Brown) que la palabra "groove" se usa para referirse a la sensación de propulsión rítmica o sentido del "swing" creado por la interacción de la música interpretada por la sección rítmica de una banda. Si eres capaz de escuchar a Earth, Wind & Fire sin moverte, probablemente estés muerto/a.

I once explained (talking about James Brown) that what we call "groove" is the sense of propulsive rhythmic feel or sense of "swing" created by the interaction of the music played by a band's rhythm section. If you are able to hear Earth, Wind & Fire without moving, then you're probably dead.
